Leveraging AI

Leveraging AI

Creating marketing and promotion material for Hattie’s War allowed me to dabble in AI finally, something I’ve been interested in learning about but never had a solid reason to give it a whorl. The results are mind-blowing.

As any serious writer will tell you, book promotion and marketing are the hardest part of being a writer. Writing query letters, a book synopsis, book blurbs, press releases, author bios, and so on is difficult and, quite frankly, onerous. To top it off, it is very hard to do well. Many authors hire that work out. If you are traditionally published, your publisher does all that for you.

In 2024, enter AI. AI can do it all. I’ll devote more space to discussing how I’ve used AI in other posts, but for now, see images I generated for a book trailer I recently made. If you’ve read the book, you recognize some of the scenes below. I used several ChatGPT apps to generate the images: Consistent Character GPT and Glibatree Art Designer—both leverage ChatGPT’s DALL-E-3 image generation technology.

Below is a gallery of experimental images generated with AI. They are all astonishing, but many are not quite right. The challenge at this stage of AI is creating consistent characters that can be used for each scene. See the AI Fails gallery.
